During our recent "power outage," Meijers was one of the few stores open in our. They had a generator. I made a few visits there. With the exception of ice, they generally had what I wanted. I am sure the employees and management of the store worked long and hard hours, but they were always gracious and accommodating. I wanted to compliment them .... sent them this email .....

A comment about your store on North 21st in Newark, Ohio. They were an oasis during our power outage. They ALL were courteous, polite and helpful. I needed a small, quarter sized battery for our scales. Weight is very critical to a condition my wife has. Store was busy, but an Asst. Mgr. walked me to the proper counter, found the one I needed, and offered assistance in helping me further. How great is that? They are ALL to be commended, excellent job during a tough time.

US Sending Ospreys to Japan - TinC

TOKYO (AP) - The United States is moving ahead with plans to deploy its first Ospreys to Japan, despite strong opposition from residents over safety issues and concerns about their behavior patterns. Local residents have heard of the damage they have caused around the world.

"I know nothing of the Osprey," stated Miatsi Ocharou, Curator of the Tokyo Zoo.

Hatchu Mioshi, Director of Animal Husbandry at Ding Hau University stated, "We here in Japan are not familiar with the animal, we know nothing of the Ospreys, it is a species that we are not familiar with. We don't know why the United States is sending them here, we are sorry for the Pearl Harbor incident, but this might be the most insidious move the US has taken so far, if it is, in fact, a retaliatory move."

The first 12 Ospreys left San Diego on a ship bound for Japan on Sunday.

The plan has created an outcry all over Japan. Japan's Ministry has not announced when the ship is due to arrive, but an Iwakuni official said it would likely be later this month.

Palin to take over for Oprah - TinC News

A "slip of the lip" at a recent after show party being held by Dancing with the Stars gave some insight to the future plans of Sarah Palin.


The party, which was held at Chuck E. Cheese's on Gunhill Road in the Bronx, has become a tradition since the show began. Staff, cast and guests are always invited to the events, and prizes are generally awarded at the end of the event to the person who wins the most coupons.

The most conversation revolved around Bristol Palin's improbable run to next week's finals. Rumors abound and there is an uproar that conspiracy theories are floating, and that she is still on the show because of the high ratings she produces.

One staff member was overheard saying, "She can't dance but she sure keeps our ratings up, she ain't no Ginger Rogers."

Bristol was overheard saying, "I don't care what they are saying, when Mom takes over the Oprah show all of this will be forgotten. Heck, any jerk can be president, Mom wants more than that, she wants the power that Oprah has. Keep that under your hat, we don't want that to get out."
