When I saw them it wa just the two of them, Burt and Ronnie. I saw them often at the Golden in Reno, they were very entertaining.
They had some standards they did, some of their hits, but they did a few "routines" that were really funny. They did one about Washington and the cherry tree.
A little boy, years ago, was telling "fibs." He had done something, pretty bad, and his father sat him down and told him the Washington story about cutting down the cherry tree, and how honesty was the best policy.
The little boy told the truth, he had made the outhouse turn over. His Dad hauled off and gave him the beating of his life ............... "But, Dad, you said that telling the truth was good, the only thing to do, why, Dad, I told the truth and you give me an awful whipping, why Dad?
"Son, George Washington's father wasn't in the cherry tree.
They made quite a story out of it, and with expressions and gestures, it was quite funny, they really drew it out.
They had a number of hit songs, which they sang, mixed with cute stories, very entertaining.
This was one of their better songs ......................
Same story, different slant to it ..... never heard this one that I recall
One more, this shows their versatility .....................
