Florida leaders are scurrying to find solutions to a complex problem that threatens to hurt their tourism industry — their beaches are running out of sand.

“We are just limited in the actual amount of sand that’s available to us,” said Stephen Blair, who heads up the beach restoration project for Miami-Dade, in the Daily Mail.

Options: Flush out existing sand stashes with recycled glass, or import sand from other beaches. But importing is a tough battle. As The New York Times pointed out, the continental shelf along Florida beach property is so narrow, that sand is a precious commodity up and down the whole coastline. Along come storms — and Florida’s a hot spot for hurricanes — and the sand situation grows even worse.

“What happens in 50 years when all that sand is gone? Where are we supposed to go then? I told [Miami-Dade officials] to take their sand shovels and sand buckets and go home and come up with a better plan,” said Frannie Hutchinson, a county commission with St. Lucie, recalling how her government body was approached with a request for sand.

Meanwhile, in Broward County, officials are already tapping into sand mines to flush out their beach. It’s a high cost, but will keep the tourism industry afloat for a while long. Still, trucking sand in from the north isn’t a long-term solution, said Jason Harrah, a project manager with the Army Corps of Engineers, in the Daily Mail.

“There would be 20,000 trucks going through South Beach in tourist season,” he said. “So you can imagine that?”

“The Obama administration cannot stop us; they know that they supported terrorism,” she continued. “We will open the files so these nations are exposed, to show how they collaborated with [the terrorists]. It is for this reason that the American administration fights us.”

A Sad story I heard today ..........

My Daughter came over today to trim Caleb, our dog, and told of an incident that had happened to her this weekend.

A friend of hers, a truck driver, Jeff, had called her last evening and told her about his weekend. He had contracted to haul a 32 foot, Glastron A-23, twin screw boat, and deliver it to a man in Minot, North Dakota.

He made the trip, no problems, delivered the boat, and while talking to the new owner, Jeff noticed a snake, in a cage, and inquired about him.

The owner said he had the snake, a Boa, for three years, and recently it had seemed lethargic and he was concerned about the Boa's health, and due to some other pets he had, and some conflicts, he was going to have to find a new home for the Boa.

Jeff said he would take the Boa, as he had previously had snakes, and would gladly give it a new home.

He returned home, and one of his first  stops was to take his Boa to Dr. Harrington, a veterinarian he had used before. He took the snake into his office and explained how he had ended up with it and some of his symptoms. The vet took the snake back into his examination room, and after a short period of time, came back out from the examination room.

Jeff looked at the vet and waited to hear his prognosis,

Jeff, he has "Reptile  Dysfunction."

A nice story ... the last line brought a tear to my eye.....

DAYTON, Ohio (AP) — Relatives of an Ohio couple who died at a nursing home 11 hours apart on the same day say their love story's ending reflects their devotion over 65 years of marriage.

The Dayton Daily News reports that Harold and Ruth Knapke died in their shared room Aug. 11, days before their 66th anniversary.

Their daughters say they believe their father willed himself to stay with his wife despite failing health until they could take the next step in their journey together. He went first; she followed.

They had a joint funeral Mass, with granddaughters carrying Ruth's casket and grandsons carrying Harold's casket. The cemetery procession stopped at the farm house where the couple had raised six children. The current owners surprised the family by flying a flag at half-staff.

MONDAY MORNING 8/26/13

Good Monday Morning, how new and fresh a Monday Morning is, a whole week ahead, all new, uncharted, all new, never been here before, and the sun is shining brightly in Onio, a different tingle in the air this morning, Fall is nearing, but it feels like Summer.

I have not checked the news yet, want to keep this "feeling" as long as I can, don;t you just hate reality?

I checked my Emails, nothing but the usual, "canned" those, Facebook was all garbage except the one story which I posted on here. OMG, I looked down at the date, about a month till ........ 81..... relief sets in ...
I have a Cataract in my left eye, getting worse, keep putting it off. The relief part, I just checked my drivers license and it is good for another year. I need to have the left one done before I can renew my license, need both eyes. That forced me to get the right one done, and it's no big deal, I just keep putting it off.

Japan won the Little League World Series. I waited a year for this game. Bottom of the 6th, last inning, Chula Vista is down by two runs, they come to the plate, now is their chance .... but, it's six o'clock and I have to leave to go pick up my wife, so,, I missed it. I enjoy the experience for a couple of weeks. Now one of the last ones, the U.S. Open, Tennis .... not a big tennis fan, but I get caught up in this one. I got hooked some years ago, Martina at the end of her career, some great stuff.

Over the weekend, I watched, LL baseball, high school football, pro football, if you can call pre season games that, some tennis, and briefly, last night, still not sure what it was, some "old" pro football players, big names, some people from TV, whose names I did not know, and others, playing football, on green carpet, on an aircraft carrier, still not sure what that was about. Who would come with an idea like that?

I'm heading for the kitchen, gonna get a cup of coffee and head out to the porch, sit there a while and thank Him for giving me this Monday and such beautiful weather. And be carefull, school buses are out and about.

Hope all have a good week. I have not evaluated it yet, but had a record number of hits yesterday, not sure what caught everyone's eye.

Recently, Escambia County, Florida Deputy First Class Nicole Coxwell was shopping at a Wal-Mart. She stood in the checkout line behind a single mother who was struggling to pay for both groceries and back to school supplies for 3 children.  The mother was also trying to buy shoes for them.  She had picked them from the clearance rack, but she still did not have enough money to buy the shoes.

“I could see the shame and embarrassment on the mother’s face and the sadness that it brought to her little boy,” Coxwell said. “I did what I hope any one of you would do. The mother, the child, and I all had tears in our eyes as I paid for the child’s shoes.”

The Wal-Mart incident was personal to Coxwell, because her own mother was a single parent before she remarried. Their family may have been short on cash, but their love for one another is abundant.

“I watched my mother work two jobs and put herself through nursing school, in addition to trying to raise a family on her own,” Coxwell said. “She did everything she could to make sure that my brother and I were provided for, even if it meant that she had to do without.”

Teen star Lydia Ko wins again in Canada

 EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Teen star Lydia Ko ran away with the Canadian Women's Open — again. The 16-year-old New Zealand amateur successfully defend her title Sunday, closing with a 6-under 64 on Sunday at Royal Mayfair for a five-stroke victory and her fourth win in professional events. "I'm pretty surprised, but I played some really good golf out there, so I was really happy about that," Ko said. "My goal today was to shoot 5 under and just play my own game. If somebody else shot better, then I can't do anything about it."

Last year at Vancouver Golf Club in British Columbia, the South Korean-born Ko became the youngest winner in LPGA Tour history at 15 years, 4 months, 2 days. She also was the fifth amateur winner in tour history and the first since JoAnne Carner in the 1969 Burdine's Invitational. "I never really thought about making history and all that," Ko said. "History is, I don't know where it starts. So, yeah, it's awesome to be a part of history."

Ko's other victories in professional events came last year in the Australian tour's New South Wales Open and this year in the Ladies European Tour's New Zealand Women's Open. Projected to jump from 19th to seventh in the world ranking, she has played 14 LPGA Tour events the last two seasons, making the cut in every tournament. She also won the U.S. Women's Amateur last summer.

Ko was again asked about turning professional.

"I've got some people above me like my mom and dad, they're the boss," Ko said. "They're going to help me to make the right decision and to turn pro at what time. I think as I'm only 16 still, it's quite hard to make huge decisions. When I turn pro it's like a job. Money is all about it and everything like that, every shot counts. Yeah, I think my parents and New Zealand golf they're all going to have a say, and hopefully we'll make a really good decision on when I will turn pro."

She bristled when asked about losing out on another $300,000 pay day.

Yosemite wildfire grows, fueling dangerous winds

(Reuters) - A colossal wildfire raging across the western edge of Yosemite National Park swept further into the park on Sunday and forced the evacuation of some its camps due to heavy smoke, according to a park spokesman.

The blaze on Sunday had come within 2 miles of a key reservoir that supplies most of San Francisco's water.

The so-called Rim Fire, which has burned 134,000 acres, caused the closure of the White Wolf area of the park on its western side, said Yosemite spokesman Tom Medema. Thirteen of 74 camps were occupied and evacuated, he said.

The flames had consumed 15,000 acres within Yosemite, a park known for its waterfalls, giant sequoia groves and other scenic wonders, by Sunday afternoon, up from just over 12,000 acres in the morning, he said.

"There's no eminent risk from the fire but the smoke impact is so heavy that we're evacuating those areas," Medema said.

He did not know how many people were evacuated but said that one of the camps had 25 occupants.

Officials said they have no plans to shut down the entire park or its top attractions.

A porn industry trade group has confirmed that pornstar Cameron Bay has tested positive for HIV, which resulted in the temporary shut down of the industry.

Bay, who released her official statement through the Free Speech Coalition, said that this news is difficult for her and she hopes no other performer is affected, ABC News reported.

She said that she plans on doing everything possible to assist the medical professionals and her co-performers, and will focus on taking care of herself and her health.

Mark Schechter, who is Bay’s agent, said that adult film star is “obviously distraught”.
Schechter said that Bay has been a model citizen and acting responsibly at this most difficult time.

Gun-safety instructor who shot student also shot girl in 1977

An Ohio firearms instructor who accidentally shot one of his students this month also shot a 14-year-old girl in 1977.

According to the Columbus Dispatch, Terry Dunlap was a Pickerington Police Department auxiliary officer in 1977 when he accidentally shot a then-14-year-old Cathy Hessler in her right leg during a Halloween hayride.

“Oh no, he’s done it again,” Hessler, now Cathy Schmelzer, 50, told the paper after she heard of the latest shooting.  “I said, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me!’” she said, according to the Dispatch.
“Oh no, he’s done it again.”

Dunlap, 73, reportedly shot student Michael Piemonte, who was hit by a bullet in his right arm, when Dunlap accidentally fired a .38-caliber handgun during a gun-safety class on Aug. 10. The bullet hit a desk, then ricocheted, hitting Piemonte.

Piemonte, 26, was reportedly treated at a hospital, and released later that night. Doctors have not yet removed the bullet or decided whether they will, Piemonte said, according to the Dispatch.
In the 1977 incident, according to a Dispatch account at the time, Dunlap said he fired his .38-caliber handgun into the air to create, in his words, “a scary effect,” while taking his daughter and her friends for a “haunted hayride.” He said he thought the gun was loaded with blanks.

The hayride shooting was deemed accidental, so no charges were ever filed.

Dunlap refused to answer questions from the Columbus Dispatch.

I think that if we really knew what all had and is going on here, AND IF REVEALED AND PUBLISHED, the nation would be shocked. Diverted funding, 501(3)(C) corruption beyond belief, and I dread to think what plans are being formulated for the future. One of Roys organizations ran as a non-profit for THREE years before their 5013c was approved, and that only took a few days, rather than the usual MONTHS. I doubt that you will ever see any of this on TV .... so spread the word .....

NEW YORK – Funds contributed in the United States to a 501(c)3 foundation run by President Obama’s older half-brother, Abongo “Roy” Malik Obama, have been diverted to support Malik’s multiple wives in Kenya, an expert on Islamic extremism has charged.

Walid Shoebat, an Arabic-speaking former Muslim Brotherhood member, has detailed his allegations in a 22-page investigative report titled “New IRS Scandal: Islamic Extremism and Sex Slaves: Report Reveals Obama’s Relatives Run Charities of Deceit,” published on his website

After a thorough examination of available evidence, Shoebat explained to WND his allegations against the Obama family tax-exempt foundations:

“When Malik Obama and Sarah Obama raised money in the United States as the respective heads of foundations claiming to be charities, not only did the Internal Revenue Service illegally grant one of them tax-deductible status retroactively, but these foundations have supported – to varying degrees – illegal operations that acquire funding for personal gain, philandering, polygamy and the promotion of Wahhabism, the brand of Islam practiced by Al-Qaeda.”

For the past two years, long before the current IRS scandals became public, WND has been reporting irregularities in two IRS-approved 501(c)3 organizations operated in the U.S. by Obama’s half-brother and step-grandmother in Kenya:

WND reported in September 2011 the Barack H. Obama Foundation apparently received IRS approval one month after an application was submitted in May 2011. The IRS determination letter June 11, 2011, granted a highly irregular retroactive tax-exempt approval only after the group came under fire for operating as a 501(c)3 foundation since 2008 without ever having applied to the IRS.

In October 2012, WND reported a separate foundation, the Mama Sarah Obama Foundation, created on behalf of Obama’s step-grandmother in Kenya, has transferred funds, 90 percent of which are raised from U.S. individuals and corporations, to send Kenyan students to the top three most radical Wahhabist madrassas in Saudi Arabia.

Since its founding in 2008, the Barack H. Obama Foundation, operating out of a commercial mail drop in Arlington, Va., has solicited tax-deductible contributions on the Internet, listing addresses and telephone numbers both in the U.S. and Kenya, without disclosing the group lacked an IRS determination letter.

In September 2011, the IRS confirmed to WND that the Barack H. Obama Foundation had received a determination letter in June 2011, awarding the group tax-exempt 501(c)3 status retro-actively to 2008

Shelby E. Linville

To me, Shelby Linville was a true, genuine basketball player. I got to see him play a few games in tournaments at the Fairgrounds in Dayton. Shelby was basketball to me, the way he walked, carried himself, moved, he was taken from the mold of what and how a basketball player should be. To this day, I judge the quality of a player by comparing him, or her, to Shelby. Not many compare. I saw him in tournament games those two years they won the state. Paul Walker was their coach, he himself is a legend, and a good friend of my brother. The Middletown Middies, Shelby was a member of one of their great eras, as was Jerry Lucas

An American basketball player and educator best known for his college career at the 

University of Kentucky.

Linville was born in Dayton, Kentucky and moved to Middletown, Ohio at 15. 

He starred at Middletown High School, where he led the team to two state championships

Following his standout college career, Linville first attended Miami University, then transferred to Kentucky to play for Adolph Rupp. Linville played three seasons at Kentucky, the best of which was his junior campaign where he averaged 10.4 points per game and helped lead the 1950–51 Wildcats to the 1951 National Championship. Linville had a strong NCAA tournament showing, making the 

All-Final Four team alongside teammate Bill Spivey

After graduating in 1952, Linville became a high school teacher, coach and administrator.

 He was also a Baptist minister.

Linville died on August 5, 2008

ATLANTA -- The standings show Chicago is clearly the team to beat in the Eastern Conference. Now that they've won in Atlanta, the Sky can believe it.

Rookie Elena Delle Donne scored 25 points and Chicago strengthened its hold on the Eastern Conference lead by beating the cold-shooting Atlanta Dream 67-56 on Saturday night.

The win evened the season series at 1-1 following Chicago's 88-74 loss at Atlanta on June 16.

"More than anything, we just wanted to see where we match up," Delle Donne said. "We left here last time with a bad taste."

Sylvia Fowles had 10 points and 13 rebounds and Swin Cash had 12 points for the Sky (20-8). Chicago, which has won five straight, stretched its lead in the East to 4½ games over second-place Atlanta.

"We didn't even play our best basketball, but our defense was consistent," Delle Donne said.

Angel McCoughtry had 20 points for the Dream (14-11), who fell to 11-2 at home. McCoughtry opened the game by sinking a jumper, but that 2-0 advantage was Atlanta's only lead.

The Dream matched their fewest points in franchise history and set the mark for their lowest field-goal percentage (28.6 percent).

It was Atlanta's worst offensive showing since the third game in franchise history. The Dream also scored 56 points while shooting 29.2 percent from the field against Los Angeles on May 25, 2008.

NY AG sues Trump, 'Trump University,' claims fraud

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York's attorney general sued Donald Trump for $40 million Saturday, saying the real estate mogul helped run a phony "Trump University" that promised to make students rich but instead steered them into expensive and mostly useless seminars, and even failed to deliver promised apprenticeships.

Trump shot back that the Democrat's lawsuit is false and politically motivated.

Attorney General Eric Schneiderman says many of the 5,000 students who paid up to $35,000 thought they would at least meet Trump but instead all they got was their picture taken in front of a life-size picture of "The Apprentice" TV star.

"Trump University engaged in deception at every stage of consumers' advancement through costly programs and caused real financial harm," Schneiderman said. "Trump University, with Donald Trump's knowledge and participation, relied on Trump's name recognition and celebrity status to take advantage of consumers who believed in the Trump brand."

But Trump's attorney accused Schneiderman of trying to extort campaign contributions from the real estate mogul through his investigation of Trump. Attorney Michael D. Cohen told The Associated Press on Saturday that Schneiderman's lawsuit was filled with falsehoods. Cohen said Trump and his university never defrauded anyone.

He said Trump University provided nearly 11,000 testimonials to Schneiderman from students praising the program and said 98 percent of students in a survey termed the program "excellent."

"The attorney general has been angry because he felt that Mr. Trump and his various companies should have done much more for him in terms of fundraising," Cohen said. "This entire investigation is politically motivated and it is a tremendous waste of taxpayers' money."

Iran warns of 'harsh consequences' if US acts on Syria

A war of words erupted Sunday over Syria as Washington said it is ready to take action over chemical weapons attacks and Tehran warned US intervention would carry "harsh consequences".

Pressure mounted on Damascus to allow a UN probe of chemical attacks, with French President Francois Hollande saying evidence indicated the regime in war-ravaged Syria was to blame and Israel demanding action against its neighbour.

The Al-Nusra Front, a fierce Al-Qaeda-linked group fighting the regime of Bashar al-Assad, vowed revenge against villages of the Syrian president's minority Alawite community.

Doctors Without Borders said 355 people died this week of "neurotoxic" symptoms, after Syria's opposition claimed regime forces unleashed chemicals east and southwest of Damascus on Wednesday causing more than 1,300 deaths.

If confirmed, it would be the deadliest use of chemical agents since late Iraqi dictator Saddam Hussein gassed Iranian troops and Kurdish rebels in the 1980s.

US President Barack Obama said a year ago that the use of chemical weapons by Assad's forces was a "red line" that could trigger Western intervention.

On Sunday a strident warning came from Washington's archfoe Iran.
"If the United States crosses this red line, there will be harsh consequences for the White House," armed forces deputy chief of staff Massoud Jazayeri said.
