Bradley Birkenfeld, who was released from federal prison six weeks ago, pleaded guilty in 2008 to helping American clients avoid paying federal income and other taxes to the IRS. As part of his plea, Birkenfeld confessed to helping businessman Igor Olenicoff conceal $200 million in assets and evade paying $7.2 million in taxes.

But while Birkenfeld was confessing his own sins, he also provided testimony that allowed the Justice Department to punish his employer, forcing UBS to admit that it had allowed its clients to evade taxes by hiding their assets offshore. In February 2009, under a deferred prosecution agreement, the company agreed to pay $780 million in criminal fines for offering tax haven accounts for U.S. clients. UBS agreed to release data on almost 5,000 client accounts.

Birkenfeld's lawyers, Stephen M. Kohn and Dean A. Zerbe, of the Washington-based National Whistleblowers Center, said that because of Birkenfeld the IRS has been able to recover $5 billion in revenue from 33,000 U.S. citizens who have voluntarily disclosed their offshore accounts.

"The IRS sent 104 million messages to whistle-blowers around the world -- that there is now a safe and secure way to report tax fraud," said the National Whistleblowers Center in a statement. "The IRS also sent 104 million messages to banks around the world – stop enabling tax cheats or you will get caught."

Obama submits to Brotherhood, asks for suppression of anti-Islam video

So predictable! The White House doesn't stand up to the Muslim Brotherhood by threatening to end foreign aid if the Cairo riots continue......instead, it shows great weakness by bowing to Muslim demands and tries to pressure YouTube into removing that amateurish Muhammad video?....at least YouTube understands the first ammendment of our constitution, denying the Obama request aimed at removing the video from public view! ................ President Barack Obama has bowed to the Muslim Brotherhood’s demand that the federal government suppress a satirical video of Islam’s prophet, Muhammad.

But Youtube denied the request late Sept. 14.

Tommy Vietor, a spokesman for the National Security Council, told the Washington Post midday that the White House has “reached out to YouTube to call the video to their attention and ask them to review whether it violates their terms of use.”

Youtube’s executives shut down videos that they deem “hate speech.” A YouTube spokesperson said Sept. 12 that the video “is clearly within our guidelines and so will stay on YouTube,” and repeated that message late Sept. 14, so rejecting Obama’s unprecedented request.

Obama’s request complied with the Sept. 13 demand and threat by the brotherhood, which now governs the Arab world’s largest country, Egypt.

“Hurting the feelings of one and a half billion Muslims cannot be tolerated, and… we demand that all those involved in such crimes be urgently brought to trial,” according to an English-language statement on the brotherhood’s website.

The brotherhood’s demand included a threat of additional violence during Obama’s re-election campaign.

Seymour, when contacted on his recently acquired private island near the Bahamas stated, "It was just luck, she slipped her white glove off and there it was, her bare naked hand, I was stunned for a moment but then I knew I had hit the jackpot, my dreams were answered. Mommy bought me a Kodak Brownie at our local Salvation Army store, and Mum picked it up for a few shillings. Now her investment in me was paying off. When Mum picked up the pics at the pharmacy I only looked at one of them and put the rest in me chifforobe in me bedroom and forgot about them. "

US Embassies Targeted in Protests Spanning 20 Countries

Is the country better off now than it was FOUR years ago???????

Angry protests spread across the Muslim world Friday, with demonstrators scaling the walls of U.S. embassies in Tunisia and Sudan and torching part of a German embassy. Amid the turmoil, Islamic militants waving black banners and shouting "God is great" stormed an international peacekeepers base in Egypt's Sinai and battled troops, wounding four.

Egypt's new Islamist president went on national TV and appealed to Muslims to not attack embassies, denouncing the violence earlier this week in Libya that killed four Americans, including the U.S. ambassador. Mohammed Morsi's first public move to restrain protesters after days of near silence appeared aimed at repairing strains with the United States over this week's violence.

Throughout the region, security forces struggled to rein in protesters. The U.S. ordered a Marine unit to Yemen in hopes of restoring order there.

Police in Cairo prevented stone-throwing demonstrators from nearing the U.S. Embassy, firing tear gas and deploying armored vehicles in a fourth day of clashes in the Egyptian capital. At least three protesters were killed around the region.

The post-Labor Day, post-conventions polls show President Barack Obama leading Mitt Romney in the three key swing states of Florida, Ohio and Virginia, which ratchets up pressure on Romney to turn things around in the debates in October.

Obama is ahead of Romney by five points among likely voters, 49 percent to 44 percent, in both Florida and Virginia, and in Ohio, he has a seven-point lead, 50 percent to 43 percent, according to new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist polls.

“You’d rather be in Obama’s shoes than Romney’s in these three critical states,” said Lee Miringoff, director of the Marist College Institute for Public Opinion, NBC News reported, adding that the leads are not “insurmountable.”

Feds ID California man's role in anti-Islam film

WASHINGTON (AP) — Federal authorities have identified a southern California man once convicted of financial crimes as the key figure behind the anti-Muslim film that ignited mob violence against U.S. embassies across the Mideast, a U.S. law enforcement official said Thursday.

Attorney General Eric Holder said that Justice Department officials had opened a criminal investigation into the deaths of the U.S. ambassador to Libya and three other diplomats killed during an attack on the American mission in Benghazi. It was not immediately clear whether authorities were focusing on the California filmmaker as part of that probe.

A federal law enforcement official said Thursday that Nakoula Basseley Nakoula, 55, was the man behind "Innocence of Muslims," a film denigrating Islam and the Prophet Muhammad that sparked protests earlier in the week in Egypt and Libya and now in Yemen. U.S. authorities are investigating whether the deaths of U.S. Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans in Libya came during a terrorist attack.

I realize times are not like they used to be, the dollar is much less valuable, but to  me, the below figures are OBSCENE .... money that will be put to NO good use, wasted on TV advertising, and paying the wages of a herd of overpaid political sheep. Our country is caught up in the whirlpool of going down the drain, and, yet, people will pay $25 thousand to have their picture taken, shaking hands, probably 30 seconds of fame for them. How pathetic is that.

Mitt Romney raised $7.5 million during a fundraising swing in New York over the last 24 hours.

The Republican presidential contender wrapped up the last of three finance events in the New York area Friday morning with a fundraising breakfast at the Hilton hotel in Midtown Manhattan that attracted at least 900 people.

According to his campaign, ticket prices ranged from $2,500 a person to $25,000—the latter granting attendees face time and a photo with the GOP nominee.

On Thursday night, Romney attended two private fundraisers on New York's Long Island—one at the home of hedge fund manager Lee Ainslie and the other at the home of Robert Rosenthal, an investment banker who is the former owner of the New York Islanders hockey team.

It's the fourth day this week Romney has taken time off the campaign trail to raise cash for his campaign. On Monday, he attended a fundraiser in Lake Forest, Ill., just outside Chicago, and he headlined a finance event in Jacksonville, Fla., on Wednesday.

Romney was narrowly outraised by Obama in August, bringing in $112 million to Obama's $114 million.

LOS ANGELES—Kirk Douglas has doubled his Los Angeles Skid Row pledge for homeless women to $10 million—surprising even his wife, for whom the effort is named.

Kirk and Anne Douglas made the initial $5 million pledge in July for continued support of the Anne Douglas Center for Women at the Los Angeles Mission, which opened two decades ago on Valentine's Day.

The 95-year-old actor also gave his wife an award Wednesday for her work at the shelter.

Kirk Douglas says his wife told him she was determined to do something for her country when they married 57 years ago and he says she has never stopped.

It's hard to believe something as small as a peanut could cause so much controversy. But put it in a lunch bag and it can divide a school.

In Viola, Arkansas, a debate is heating up, after a student had his peanut butter and jelly sandwich confiscated at lunchtime. The school has a no-peanut-products policy due to a few students with allergies, so the teacher helped the little boy get a new lunch and sent home a note explaining the situation to his mom.

That note didn't go over well, apparently. Soon after the incident, a 'School Nut Ban Discussion' group was launched on Facebook by parents conflicted over the policy.

Some parents believe allergy-free students shouldn't have to cater to a few kids' health sensitivities, particularly if it means cutting out healthy or low-cost snacks packed in their own child's lunchbox.
The mom who packed the confiscated PB&J sandwich thinks kids with allergies should learn "how to manage the problem" rather than live inside a "bubble," according to a local news report.

Got to wondering today.........................

Did anyone ever wonder why, at least on television, maybe in real life, many major decisions are made over a glass of bourbon? At the end of their shifts, policemen, politicians, firemen, businessmen, all head to bars for a drink. Policemen on TV work around drunks all day, see deadly car wrecks caused by drinking, then, after shift, they all meet for a drink or a beer at a local pub and many of the pubs are owned by retired policemen.

I've had a few offices of my own, a few businesses, but  I never kept bourbon in the bottom drawer of my desk, or had a built in bar in my office. When I was in sales I was never offered a drink in an office. I once owned a bar, and rarely drank at my own bar. Years ago, at Christmas, many salesmen brought us a "bottle" of one thing or another as a Christmas present. But that died out, even in-house parties where alcohol  was served were going by the wayside.

Why, who and how, was the decision made to glamorize "drinking?"

Cheers, and other shows, have used bars and taverns as their sets, developed shows around the drinking environment.

Just watching a JAG rerun. Big decision being made, SECNAV is meeting with an Admiral about a new head man for JAG. Nice office, plush surroundings, they are drinking 18 year old bourbon. And not just drinking it, thoroughly relishing and enjoying the experience.

I have an occasional drink these days, in my time possibly have spilled more than many have consumed, so I am not a member of the WCTU. I do have an old pin of theirs that belonged to my Grandmother.

.....our Ambassadors being assassinated, and our embassy's being stormed and burned down four years ago. And  this is going on all around the world. I don't remember being so hated around the world, four years ago. That was the question posed, wasn't it, "Are you better off that you were four years ago." Good heavens, NO!

If people take their heads out of the sand, and look at the news ............ Teacher's strike in Chicago (Isn't the president from there?) ... Crime is up, the homeless community grows daily, food pantries are busier than ever, layoffs and unemployment at a high, more companies are moving overseas.

The ONLY person who is better off than he was four years ago is that guy that won all those millions in the lottery.

We honestly now put a chair under our front door knob at night, for extra protection, we don't feel as safe  here in Newark, Ohio, as we did four years ago. Anyone have a gun for sale. I used to have a 22 rifle years ago for target shooting, now I feel the need to own one for personal protection.

I say again, with all sincerity, I think that if Obama wins this election, it will be the last free election held in this country and could be the end of our way of life. To me, all  signs internally, externally and around the world are leading us in that direction. Remember, everywhere it has happened, historically, echoed the sentiments, "It can't happen here," yet, it did.

The new I-Pad, or I-Phone, or something like that, was revealed today.

Not sure if that spelling is correct, don't have one, don't know what all they do. I do know that if you do have one, you can't live without it, it become a constant companion. So what are those who are out of work going to do without one? Maybe the government will get them one.

Obama is ready to sign an executive order giving himself and his administration more control over the internet. A National Security Council spokeswoman stated, “An executive order is one of a number of measures we’re considering as we look to implement the President’s direction to do absolutely everything we can to better protect our nation against today’s cyberthreats.” She could have just ended it with “…the President’s direction to do absolutely everything we can.” That would have been more accurate.
 
Government agencies claim that our power grid is threatened by hackers, but cyber experts make the case that most infrastructure systems are not connected to the public internet and hacking into the power grid would be basically impossible with only an internet connection, no matter how good the hacker is. In an interview with Homeland Security News Wire, international cyber security expert Bruce Schneier stated that while cyber crimes like identity theft are real but largely ignored by the mainstream press, “the threat of cyber-war has been grossly exaggerated, both by government and industry. We are in the early years of a cyber-war arms race, and there is a lot of money and power up for grabs. Same with cyber-terrorism, the threat is being exaggerated.”

The press has been reporting an increase in cyber related attacks from hacker groups like Anonymous and Antisec, but in reality, says Bruce Schneier, hacker activity has not increased, only media coverage has. And this has a purpose, namely to drum up support from the people for more government control. But it was evident that it wasn’t drumming up enough support because the Congress and Senate have failed to pass internet control legislation, and that’s where the executive order comes in.

I don’t believe that these “emergency” executive orders or legislation are really to protect us. They claim it’s to protect us from cyber attacks and child pornography. But how are more internet taxes, regulations and orders forcing ISPs to hand over their customers’ internet activity supposed to protect us from hackers or child molesters who wish to do us harm? If anything, those things make us more vulnerable. Maybe that is what the Obama administration wants – to make us, businesses and ISPs vulnerable to attacks to further justify a complete government takeover of the tech industry and internet.

A friend of mineI recently asked my friends' little girl what she wanted to be when she grows up. She said she wanted to be President some day. Both of her parents, liberal Democrats, were standing there, so I asked her, "If you were President what would be the first thing you would do?"

She replied, "I'd give food and houses to all the homeless people."

Her parents beamed with pride. "Wow...what a worthy goal," I told her. "But you don't have to wait until you're President to do that. You can come over to my house and mow the lawn, pull weeds, and sweep my porch, and I'll pay you $50.

Then I'll take you over to the grocery store where the homeless guy hangs out, and you can give him the $50 to use toward food and a new house."

She thought that over for a few seconds, then she looked me straight in the eye and asked, "Why doesn't the homeless guy go over to your house and do the work, then you can pay him the $50?"

I said, "Welcome to the Republican Party."

Her parents still aren't speaking to me.

Wednesday Morning - 9/12/2012

I am not sure if it coincidence or not, if Romney made statements before incidents happened, but I think his statements this morning, about the events in  Benghazi sealed his fate. That was not the time to be critical. That was a time he should have proclaimed solidarity, made positive statements, not trying to put the blame on his opponent.

In my mind, he just lost the election, and fell into an unforeseen trap that was just waiting to happen. Such an incident was almost predictable to happen, somewhere, for some reason. It happened and he fell in.

What happened was tragic, and it happened on 9/11. Coincidence?

I have always stated that a political campaign is much like a symphonic orchestra. I am not sure who is writing the score, but the conductor is one Barack Obama.

The "symphony" is playing now, the crescendo probably in early October with the finale a few days before the election. The "maestro" was at the podium this morning, Hillary by his side, and his opponent, off somewhere, putting his foot in his mouth. You just have to love politics.

Some words of wisdom ............

I remember once reading an article that I think is pertinent to much of life. Politics, business, family, I think it is relevant to life in general. I think that perhaps with the upcoming election, we might all give some serious though as to how this pertains to our countries leaders, and office holders in general.

It pertained to a pool match where a lot was at stake, similar to what our country is facing today, a critical time.

Jeanette Lee, one of the top female pool players in the world was sizing up a relatively easy shot, but was very deliberate and taking a lot of time. She was asked why such an easy shot was taking so much time. Her answer, "I am determining where I want the cue ball six shots from now." She was not only concerned about her immediate easy shot, but how she wanted the table to look six shots from now. Not rushing in to an easy decision for now, but how she wanted the table to look in the future.

Don't make a decision on who to put in office, "because it is easy," contemplate the next four years, what steps will be necessary for us as a country to achieve our goals and to "run the table" to insure that we are the victors at the end of the game. Who has the best game, and can keep us from "getting behind the eight ball,"

Regardless of your decision, make sure you give consideration and thought to the "next six shots" on the table. We are involved in a very serious game, pick your partner wisely.
